WHAT ARE FLOTATION TIRES

There are different types of cars for various purposes. For instance, a 4×4 vehicle is designed for off-roading. Similarly, a tractor is most suitable for agricultural lands, while Formula One is for racetracks. We mean to say that there are many categories of vehicles, and each has a specific purpose. Since all these vehicles/trucks have different sizes, bodies, and purposes, they also have their own set of unique tires. Without these tires, the cars cannot perform their duties properly.

FLOTATION TIRES

One type of tire is a flotation tire. Have you ever taken your 4×4 on an off-road adventure and got stuck in a soft area of land? If yes, it’s most probably because you have the wrong set of tires installed in your off-roader. A standard tire installed in an SUV/truck and 4×4 emphasizes tire tread for better traction.

USE

Contrary to this, a floating tire is made specifically for floating over soft areas such as sandy soil and agricultural lands. Hence the name floating is given to these tires. These tires are most commonly used in the agricultural sector since agrarian land is mostly a soft surface with many muddy areas.

HOW DO THEY WORK?

Such tires keep the truck/SUV from getting stuck on such land by keeping the vehicles above the ground. Flotation tires keep the surface disturbance low in agricultural lands. Unlike other tires, they do not dig into the soil, damaging the farmland. Can you guess how they do this?

It is achieved by keeping the pressure inside the tire at a low and expanding the tires’ sidewalls. In other words, these tires do not dig into the surface to make way. Instead, they do the complete opposite. They thrive in these conditions by expanding their sidewalls and floating over the surface.

SIDEWALL & BUBBLES

Please remember that bubbles or any bulge in the tire are something that you must never ignore. They can cause the tire to burst, and you may end up in an accident. So, drive safe, keep an eye on your tyres, and follow considerate steps when you experience a tire blowout.

Regular tires would cease to perform under these tricky conditions as they are not designed for such land.
