DUNLOP VS ROADSTONE TYRES – FEATURES COMPARISON

In this article, we will be shifting our focus back to car tires. By now, we all know how vital tyres are to a vehicle. We discussed their core functions in a blog post a while back. Today, we are focusing on two popular tire brands – Dunlop and Roadstone.

ABOUT THE BRANDS

First, let’s talk about the two brands.

Dunlop

Dunlop is a unique brand not because of its tyres but because of its ownership. The brand is owned by different companies and the ownership varies by region. In North America, Japanese Sumitomo Rubber Industries manufactures tires under the Dunlop brand. In Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei, the German Continental AG takes ownership. In India, Ruia Group is the owner of the Dunlop brand. Despite the several owners, the Dunlop brand is synonymous with quality and performance.

Roadstone

It is a very popular tire brand that is an associated brand of Nexen Tires. So, even if you know little about Roadstone, you can rest assured that it is a reliable brand because of Nexen. The best thing about Roadstone is that it has R&D centres set up all over the world. It ensures that Roadstone uses the best technology and innovation in its products. The brand is present in more than hundred countries, a sign of its popularity and customer base.

Now, let’s take a look at their tires.

DUNLOP GRANDTREK AT23 VS. ROADSTONE N FERA RU1

These two tires are for SUVs, CUVs, and 4x4s. The Grandtrek AT23 offers less choice when it comes to size, whereas the RU1 comes in different sizes. Due to the different sizes, the RU1 has a varying price range (AED 364 to AED 506), whereas the Dunlop tire ranges between AED572 to AED592. But don’t let the scarcity of choice or the higher price put you off from buying the AT23.

One thing that many people fail to notice is that the AT23 is an original equipment tire for models like Lexus and Toyota. Unlike the RU1 which is a summer tire, the Grandtrek has an all-season tread. It means that you can use it in all types of road and weather conditions. Hence, in terms of size and price, Roadstone N Fera RU1 gains the edge. In all-season versatility, the Grandtrek is the better option.

When it comes to performance, the two of them are evenly matched. They both feature the latest technologies. Overall, it is challenging to pick a winner between the two. If you prefer an all-season tire and are not worried about the price, we recommend the AT23. If you have little use for an all-season tyre, the RU1 is preferable.

DUNLOP SP SPORT LM702 VS. ROADSTONE CP672

These two are designed for passenger vehicles. However, keep in mind that they are not for your average passenger car. If your vehicle falls in the high-performance range, we recommend these two. When it comes to the price, the two are evenly matched. But if you opt for a bigger size in the CP672, you will end up paying more.

What we like about the two tires is that they are super quiet. In other words, you no longer need to concern yourself about tire noise. Apart from this, both are durable. It means that you won’t need to change tires every now and then. One thing that gives the LM702 an edge over the CP 672 is the road grip. While there is no doubt that both offer excellent traction, the LM702 gives more confidence in wet and slippery conditions.
