LIST OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE TYRES IN THE WORLD | EXPENSIVE TYRES FROM AROUND THE WORLD

In the course of different articles, we have focused primarily on improving a car’s exterior appearance. We are confident that our readers learnt something new and exciting. But today we will be coming back to our roots – tires. Instead of the usual topics like different tyre comparisons, we would like to discuss the world’s most expensive tyres. Let’s start.

1. LETOURNEAU L-2350 FRONT-LOADER TYRES

Have you heard about earth moving machinery? Well, if you have not, there is no cause for worry. Earthmoving machinery refers to heavy-duty vehicles used for carrying heavy loads usually used in large construction works. Now, these vehicles’ gigantic size requires tires that can carry the vehicle’s weight along with the load. With this, we bring you the LeTourneau L-2350 front-loader Tyres. They cost $63,000 each.

2. CATERPILLAR 797 DUMP TRUCK TYRES

Like the previous earthmover machine, we bring you another – Caterpillar 797 Dump Truck. They are powered by the Michelin 59/80R63 XDR. They weigh a whopping 5.3 tonnes. Unsurprisingly, they cost $42,500 each.

3. BUGATTI VEYRON TIRES

The Veyron is one of the fastest vehicles in the world. But if you want to reach its top speed, you require equally supportive tyres. With this, we bring you the Michelin Pilot Sport PAX (run-flat) 245/690 R520 tyres which are specially designed for the Veyron. These tires cost $10,000 each.

4. SPACE SHUTTLE

Like the Veyron, Michelin also designs tires for space shuttles. These tires weigh 56 tons considering that they have to bear the entire shuttle’s weight during landing. Their cost is $5,500 each and can reach speeds of 420km/hr. The surprising this is that these tyres are not as big as one thinks. Instead, they are no bigger than ordinary upscale SUV tires.

5. MONSTER TRUCK TYRES

We have all seen monster trucks, at least in videos. In countries like the US, there are special motorsport events featuring monster trucks. These large trucks require specially designed tires (2.6 m in height and 1.7 m in width). Very few tire manufacturers make such large tires. Two notable brands that manufacture hand-cut tires for monster trucks are Goodyear and Firestone. The average cost per tire is $2,500.

6. BOEING 747 TYRES

One would think that the tires for one of the world’s largest airliners will feature higher on the list. But that is not the case. A Boeing 747 tire costs $2000, which is not much considering Veyron’s tires’ price. An aeroplane’s tires are filled with nitrogen.

7. FORMULA ONE TYRES

Formula One is one of the most widely followed sports in the world. The likes of Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher have played a significant role in putting sport on the world map. Pirelli is the sole tire supplier for Formula One races. On average, the tires last up to 200 km and not more. One tyre cost $1,500.

SPECIAL MENTION

We have a special mention. We have all read stories of Sheikhs and their extravagant tastes, right? Well, there is another story to add to the list. A Dubai-based firm ‘Z Tyre’ designed the world’s most expensive tires. What’s special about them? Well, they feature carefully selected diamond stones and 24-karat gold leaf. The diamonds were applied in Italy, while the gold work was carried out in Dubai. Their price is a whopping US$600,000!
